Hand in cookie jar...
"I didn't take any sugar", the child smiles. Half of his face is covered in crystals of sweet stuff (read sugar). The mother cannot help but smile as she wipe his face. She tells him, "It's okay to take some sugar baby. Just don't lie about it."
You cannot help and look back at how sophisticated your lies have become. Now you smile with yourself.......in satisfaction? I hope not.! :-) ......
"Hand in the cookie jar" will soon become a cliche (if it isn't already). It is synonymous with scandalous affairs, bribery, corruption, drug trafficking as well as many other situations that were not meant to happen or be noticed.....Seen by somebody while trying to take a thing that he/she was not entitled to.
Being caught with the hand in the cookie jar is almost similar to being punk'd only that its not as funny! because being busted is more like a red cheek event.
Lately, politicians are more frequent visitors to the cookie jar. Saying one thing and doing another. Preaching water and drinking wine. That kind of thing. However, bold citizens are coming forward to uncover acts of corruption and prejudice in their leaders. Whether or not eating a cookie is wrong, is upto the people. Being open about eating a cookie.........thats something else.
